About Stablecoins

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a stable value relative to a reference asset — most commonly the US dollar. They come in three main types: fiat-backed (USDT, USDC), where each token is backed by real dollars in a bank; crypto-collateralised (DAI), where other crypto assets are over-collateralised as backing; and algorithmic, where smart contracts attempt to maintain the peg through supply manipulation. Peg deviation of more than 1% is generally considered a warning sign.
